NEW YORK, Jan 23 (Reuters) - Methanex Corp (MX.TO), the world’s largest producer of methanol, on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net profit that was mostly flat from a year earlier but higher on a per-share basis due to few shares.
The company said its quarterly net profit totaled $171.7 million, or $1.72 per share. That compared with a profit of $172.4 million, or $1.61 cents, in the same period a year earlier.
Revenue in the quarter rose to $731.1 million from $668.2 million.
Methanol markets were tight during the fourth quarter as several outages affected global supply, and demand remained strong despite high pricing, it said. (Reporting by Ritsuko Ando; Editing by Ben Tan)
