Transat reports lower fourth-quarter results

TORONTO, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Transat A.T. Inc TRZb.TO, parent of airline Air Transat, reported a drop in its fourth-quarter profit on Friday, partially due to an C$11.2 million write-down on asset-backed commercial paper securities.

The holiday travel company said it earned C$7.7 million, or 23 Canadian cents a share during the quarter, down from C$13.6 million, or 39 Canadian cents a share, in the same quarter last year. ($1=$1.02 Canadian) (Reporting by John McCrank; Editing by Scott Anderson)
