Teck Cominco fourth-quarter drops 68 percent

TORONTO, Feb 11 (Reuters) - Teck Cominco TCKb.TO said on Monday its fourth-quarter profit fell 68 percent, hit by lower zinc and coal prices, the stronger Canadian dollar, and C$84 million ($84 million) in writedowns.

Teck, a diversified Canadian miner with heavy exposure to copper and zinc, earned C$280 million, or 64 Canadian cents a share, in the quarter, down from C$866 million, or C$2.01 a share, in the year-before period.
