Couche-Tard third-quarter profit rises 16 pct

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Third-quarter earnings at Alimentation Couche Tard (ATDb.TO) climbed 16 percent, North America’s third biggest convenience store operator said on Wednesday, as gains from acquisitions helped weather a “difficult economic climate” in the United States.

Net earnings for the gas station and store operator increased to $50.5 million, or 24 cents per share, from $43.7 million, or 21 cents per share, in the same period last year.
