Canadian Tire posts rise in fourth-quarter profit

OTTAWA, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Canadian Tire Corp (CTC.TO) (CTCa.TO) said on Thursday that fourth-quarter earnings rose 15.5 percent as bigger sales helped lift results for the country’s biggest auto parts and household goods retailer.

The company, which also also operates gasoline bars and a financial services unit, said net profit increased to C$125.1 million, or C$1.53 a share, in the traditionally strong quarter. That compares with a profit of C$108.3 million, or C$1.33, in the same period last year.
