Agrium quarterly profit rises on surging demand

(In U.S. dollars)

TORONTO, Feb 13 (Reuters) - Agrium Inc (AGU.TO) rebounded to a fourth-quarter profit as soaring grain markets created strong demand for fertilizer, the top U.S. crop supply retailer said on Wednesday.

Agrium, also the world’s third-largest nitrogen producer, said it had earned $172 million, or $1.24 a share, compared with a loss of $62 million, or 47 cents per share, a year earlier, when problems at a phosphate mine affected results.
