Thomson reports higher profit, boosts dividend

TORONTO (Reuters) - Electronic publishing company Thomson Corp TOC.TOTOC.N reported a higher fourth-quarter profit on Thursday and boosted its dividend 10 percent as it readies itself for the takeover of Reuters Group Plc RTR.LRTRSY.O.

Thomson, which is buying financial data and news provider Reuters, said it earned $434 million, or 67 cents a share for the period that ended December 31, up from $391 million, or 61 cents a share for the same time in 2006.
