Hotel adds $1 million to Verlander's bill for beating Dodgers

Dining out in Beverly Hills can add up fast — especially if you happen to be Justin Verlander.

The Houston Astros pitcher found an extra $1 million on his bill after eating at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Friday, bringing his total to $1,000,181.00 (before another $95,017.20 in sales tax.)

The added miscellaneous charge was for “Dodger Killer,” referencing the fact Verlander’s Astros beat the L.A. Dodgers in the 2017 World Series.

“#BeverlyHillsHotel really making me pay for that World Series win ???? Thanks for the great lunch as always!” he wrote in an Instagram post showing off the bill.

Verlander, who will earn $28 million this season, actually wasn’t a major factor in the World Series, going 0-1 in his two starts and posting a 3.75 ERA. But he did play a big part in the Astros advancing to the World Series, going 4-0 against the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.
