SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - eBay Inc said on Friday it had hired Richelle Parham to be chief marketing officer for eBay’s North America division, as the e-commerce company seeks to lure more buyers and sellers to its site.
Parham recently served as the head of global marketing innovation and initiatives for Visa Inc.
eBay is in the midst of a three-year turnaround designed to reinvigorate growth in its main marketplaces business, where buyers connect with sellers online. That unit has been weathering a slump.
The company has used coupons and other tactics — including a structural change in fees — to introduce new customers to the products being offered, for which eBay earns a cut.
In September, eBay said the president of marketplaces, Lorrie Norrington, was leaving the company for personal reasons.
